Ready for Sweater Weather

Hi there! I have a bit of a backlog of finished stuff. Well, I have multiple projects where the knitting is all finished, but they need a little something else done before they’re ready for their close-up.

Meanwhile, I finished a sweater for the Hubster!

It’s the Big Thaw! Hubster is definitely “a keeper,” but I refuse to knit for him unless he approves both the pattern and the yarn. He’s picky!

This pattern and yarn were approved (and the yarn purchased) last fall, but I am obviously quite behind on my sweater knitting. Meanwhile, once I started I had some issues with the simple little stitch pattern you see above. It’s wrong in the KnitScene published pattern. I was still screwed up after checking the Ravelry errata. I wound up going with my “knitters gut” and finally got it right!

If you’ve been paying attention to my WiP Wednesdays, you’ll remember that I had to knit three sleeves for this sweater because it was looking like the Seinfeld “Puffy Shirt.” As you can see, once I paid attention to the seemingly-paltry number of stitches to be picked up for the sleeve as dictated by the pattern, things turned out MUCH better!

The bad news? Hubster wanted the sleeves to end before I really thought they should, so I listened. And then he wore the sweater and decided they were too short. Good thing I needed to bust into my 9th skein of yarn to knit the last 1.5” of the second sleeve, so I have plenty of yarn leftover to add an inch or so to each arm!

There be short rows on that back. I used the Cat Bordhi/New Pathways method, and I think they turned out great!

Hubster wore this sweater to work a week or so ago. He commented that it’s too warm to wear until it is officially cold outside. That’s what you get with a wool/alpaca blend!

Oh, and Mr. Crankypants was my model for the photos on a human, so I’ll spare you Hubster’s grumpy face.

The sweater looks great - I love the construction on the shoulders and back. That's one lucky Hubster! :)

Yay! Looks great. I'm pretty sure now that I messed up the sleeves on mine, because they're still reminiscent of the puffy shirt. That or I have a husband with freakishly tiny arms.

Tell Hubster he looks smashing!

I dig it! I thought for sure it was going to be steeked though with that front.

It's a beautiful sweater. I have alpaca that I spun for a sweater my husband wants. I told him how warm it will be but he insists. I don't know how many times he's going to wear it but I'll make what he wants.
